Our classrooms will be live Online Classes that are unique in the industry and what we believe will account for the impressive success of our students. Our curriculums are engaging and meet North Carolina state and federal education regulations. The course content focuses on critical thinking, decision-making, and team concepts while incorporating elements of care and communication/interpersonal skills. This training course will instruct students’ time in theory, lab, and clinical settings using their newly learned skills. The DDAC curriculum has additional coursework that consists of 20 hours of introduction to Cognitive psychology that focuses on studying cognition and its relationship to our experiences and our actions. Students can generally expect to complete their training and be ready to take their certification to become certified direct care workers within 4 to 8 weeks of the beginning of training. DDAC offers refresher courses for Nurse aides who are seeking to refresh their skills and need to learn additional skills to pass the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Exam but do not need to repeat skills training in some areas of the nurse aide curriculum prior to re-taking a new Competency Evaluation Exam.

Instructors:

All Courses will be instructed by Registered Nurses, with the exception of the Phlebotomy course. DDAC candidates for becoming a CNA Instructor are required to hold an RN license with two-year experience of practice and one year of teaching adults. The course for the instructors as well as the duration of the course, is planned by the Department of Health and Human Services. The Registered Nurse retains the responsibility and accountability for appropriate delegation and must be certain that the Nurse Aide has completed the education and skill competency validation. This will include fulfilling the time frame required for each module, being proficient in theory and clinical practice, having a teaching method that is informative and interesting, guaranteeing that the students become thorough and competent with the theory and study of nursing, making certain that medical topics are communicated without leaving scope for confusion, be updated with medical developments and reports, supervision, and observation to the students at the time of clinical skills training. The general guidelines and procedures identified below reflect evidence-based adult learning principles to encourage course and student success.

Testing:

Tests are intended to measure students’ knowledge of content presented in class and laboratory, as well as their ability to select appropriate clinical applications when given written clinical situations. Frequent testing will allow students to demonstrate mastery of content as he/she progresses through the course. Tests given throughout the course enable both the instructor and student to identify the area(s) with which the student may need additional help in order to master the content. Administration of a final, comprehensive examination covering all content areas within the course is to validate student mastery of the course materials. The DDAC system for testing ensures the security of the test questions, test administration measures, and secure test review to prevent fraudulent practices.

Class Laboratory:

DDAC lab students are given the opportunity to see demonstrations of expected skills and then practice, with instructor assistance, prior to completing the required Skills Competency Checklist Evaluation. Students must successfully complete the Skills Competency Checklist Evaluation in the laboratory setting before being permitted to perform the skill under direct instructor supervision in the clinical area. The final laboratory exam will be taken as the module is being completed.

Clinical Practice:

Students must successfully complete the Skills Competency Checklist Evaluation in the clinical practice setting under direct instructor supervision before being permitted to perform the skill without instructor supervision in the clinical area. The final clinical exam completes the Skills Competency Checklist Evaluation. The course’s Clinical Performance Evaluation skills include and clearly state the clinical performance expectations that the student must satisfactorily meet in order to be deemed safe and competent. Students will receive ongoing assessment and feedback related to clinical performance, with sufficient opportunity for the student to satisfactorily meet clinical objectives.
